Creating Your First Project

A project in arkmetis represents a client or brand. It takes 5 steps to set up – and then your first website check can begin.

Step 1: Domain & Website Type

  • Project name – e.g. "Dr. Mueller Dental Practice" or "Sportshop Huber"
  • Website type – Blog, e-commerce, SaaS, service, portfolio, etc.
  • Platform – WordPress, Webflow, Shopify, Custom, etc.
  • Primary domain – Your client's main website (e.g. dr-mueller.at)

What's your use case?

  • Standard monitoring – Monitor and optimize a single website
  • Multi-site – Multiple domains for one brand (e.g. main site + shop + blog). You can enter additional domains right away.
  • Migration – An old website is being replaced (relaunch). Enter the old domain as a "source" + optionally set a go-live date.

Migration? If you specify an old website, arkmetis automatically enables the migration section in the sidebar – with content mapping, redirect map, and go-live checklist.

Step 2: Brand & Context

This is where it gets interesting. This information is what makes the difference between generic AI suggestions and ones that truly sound like your client.

Analyze Website Automatically

Click "Analyze Website" – arkmetis crawls the primary domain and uses AI to automatically detect:

  • The client's industry
  • Target audience
  • Tone of voice and brand personality

The detected values are filled into the fields, and you can adjust them.

For migrations: If the new website has little content yet, arkmetis automatically analyzes the old (source) domain instead.

Fill in Manually

You can also fill in all fields yourself:

  • Industry – What sector is the client in?
  • Target audience – Who should be addressed?
  • Brand name – What's the brand called?
  • Style notes – How should the brand sound?
  • Writing rules – e.g. "Always use active voice", "No jargon"
  • Avoid list – Words that should never be used
  • Preferred terms – e.g. "client" instead of "customer"
  • Grammar rules – e.g. "No passive voice", "Oxford comma"

Tip: The more you provide here, the better all AI features will work. But don't worry – you can always refine this later via the Voice Profile.

Step 3: Services & Configuration

All analysis services are enabled by default:

  • SEO – Technical SEO audit
  • Accessibility (A11y) – WCAG audit
  • PageSpeed – Performance metrics
  • AI Visibility (GEO) – Tracking in ChatGPT, Perplexity & more
  • Visual Attention – Screenshot-based attention analysis

SEO Configuration

  • Crawl frequency – Daily, weekly, or monthly
  • Crawl depth – 1-5 levels (default: 3)
  • WCAG level – AA (default) or AAA for stricter accessibility checks

GEO Tracking Prompts

Define the questions that should be regularly checked against AI models (e.g. "Best dentist in Vienna"). You can also click "Apply Suggestions" – arkmetis will generate matching tracking prompts based on the website analysis from Step 2.

Skills

Choose which of your skills are relevant for this project. Skills influence how AI tools weight their recommendations.

Step 4: Domain Verification

Optional but recommended: Verify the domain via DNS TXT record.

  • arkmetis automatically detects your DNS provider and shows the nameservers
  • Copy the TXT record and add it at your provider
  • Click "Verify" to start the check

You can also skip this step and do it later.

Step 5: Summary & Launch

The overview shows all settings at a glance:

  • Project name and domains (primary/secondary/source)
  • Brand name and industry
  • Active services and skills

Enable the checkbox "Start first crawl" (only available if the domain is verified) and click "Complete Project".

What Happens During a Crawl?

arkmetis systematically scans your website:

  1. Starts at the main page
  2. Follows internal links up to the configured depth
  3. Checks each page for SEO, A11y, and performance
  4. Respects robots.txt and crawls at most 2 pages per second
  5. Results appear in real time on the dashboard

The entire process takes between 30 seconds and a few minutes, depending on the size of the website.
