Migration (Website Relaunch)
A website relaunch is a high-risk project. Old URLs change, content moves, and rankings can drop. arkmetis makes this process as safe as possible.
When does the Migration tab appear? As soon as you add a "Source" site to your project (the old website), the migration section becomes automatically visible.
Migration Overview
The overview shows both websites side by side:
- Old Website (Source) vs. New Website (Primary)
- SEO scores compared
- A11y scores compared
- Page count
- Schema markup coverage
This gives you an at-a-glance view of whether the new website is at least as good as the old one.
Content Mapping
The heart of the migration: Which old page goes where on the new site?
For each page of the old website, you specify:
| Action | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Migrate | 1:1 transfer to the new website |
| Merge | Multiple old pages combined into one new page |
| Archive | Content is not transferred; redirect to a similar page |
| Delete | Page is removed (410 Gone) |
| Create New | Content needs to be written from scratch |
AI Matching
Manually mapping hundreds of pages is tedious. Click "AI Matching" (costs 1 credit) and arkmetis will:
- Analyze the content of each old page
- Find the best match on the new website
- Show a confidence score (e.g. 95% certain)
- Let you confirm or correct the suggestion
You can bulk-confirm all suggestions above a certain confidence threshold (e.g. 80%) at once.
Redirect Map
Based on the content mapping, arkmetis automatically creates the redirect rules:
- Source Path → Target Path → Status Code (301/302/410)
- Manually add or edit redirects
- Import all source pages as redirects
Export Formats
Click "Export" and choose:
- .htaccess – For Apache servers
- nginx.conf – For nginx servers
- CSV – For other systems or documentation purposes
Navigation Builder
The new website's navigation does not have to mirror the old one. The Navigation Builder helps:
- AI-generated – arkmetis suggests a navigation structure based on the content mapping
- Manual – Drag and drop to reorder
- Menu Types – Main navigation, sidebar, meta menu, footer
Go-Live Checklist
The interactive checklist guides you through every step:
